This bitcoin ‘penny’ is a play on the real US 1 cent coin, being of similar size and material. The round proclaims ‘In Code We Trust’, in contrast with the ‘In God We Trust’ declaration on US currency. The meaning of this can be taken further, to symbolize how digital currencies operate on real objective mathematic principles (code) as opposed to the control of a ‘higher power’ such as a government or central bank (God). Furthermore, ‘E Pluribus Unum’ is replaced with ‘E-Currency Unum’. Notably, the ‘B’ on this coin is a different font than usual on physical Bitcoins.
