Description
This silver-plated coin has the same concept as the
gold-plated coin, though it is designed to be the less
valuable Genesis coin as evidenced by mintage numbers
and the color (with silver being perceived as less valuable
compared to gold). Instead of being available in twelve
different crypto-currencies like the gold-plated version,
it is available in nine crypto-currencies with 20 coins
of each style. The nine crypto-currencies are: DNotes,
Namecoin, Peercoin, Hyper, Coin2, ShadowCash,
Reddcoin, Clams, and Darkcoin. It is notable that
Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin are missing. Leaving
out the three most popular crypto-currencies in this
silver-plated edition is done to make them more
sought after, effectively meaning that there are only 30
‘highly desirable’ coins out of the 300 Genesis coins in
the first series. This ‘engineered rarity’ drove the resale
value of Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin Genesis
coins up, encouraging collectors to buy Genesis coins
almost like lottery tickets. There are three documented
errors: Bitcoin #2, Coin2 #2, and Peercoin #9 all have
their currency name and serial number printed upsidedown.
Additionally, ‘ShadowCash’ is mistakenly spelled
as ‘Shadowcoin’.
